I didn’t realize that I’ve missed three weeks of posting. Yikes! So here we go…
Days 31 – 35:
Monday – We had Super Hero Day on this day. We got to wear the capes that we made the week before. Isabelle loved showing off her “Super Isabelle” cape; Josh wasn’t quite so into Super Hero Day. We had a super hero lunch with hero sandwiches, and fruit (which makes you have super hero strength). Cost: $0
Tuesday – Water Day. Also known as the day of the disastrous bubble painting. I had the bright idea that we would use our “washable” colored bubbles to paint pictures on paper that I taped to our porch rails. Just a note, it is definitely not washable. My kids were both stained green for a few days (see the lovely picture–all that green bled through his clothes to his skin), but it did come out of their clothes for the most part. And it did result in some really cool looking paintings. I’m thinking I might try coloring the bubbles with Kool-Aid next time. We also played in our new lion pool and our sprinkler ring. Cost: $0
Wednesday – Zoo Day! Our kids love the zoo so since Kyle was off today we decided to head that direction. Our kids had a blast! And since we have the zoo family pass it was free. Even better! Cost: $8 (we had to pay for train and carousel rides).
Thursday – Library Day. Today was the day that the fire truck was at the library. We got to listen to the firemen tell us what to do if our house were to catch on fire and then we got to go look at the fire truck. Isabelle and Josh also got fire hats! Cost: $0
Friday – Grandparent Day. We headed for Newnan bright and early Friday morning to go spend some time with Grandma and Granddaddy. We hung out with them all morning and after lunch we headed over to Mama T’s. The kids spent the weekend with Papa and Mama T and they had a blast! Cost: $0
Days 26 -30:
Isabelle had Vacation Bible School all week, so Josh and I spent our time reading books, working on learning the alphabet, and counting. Cost: $0
Days 21 – 25:
Isabelle and Josh spent the week in Panama City Beach with Nana and Pops. They had a blast hanging out with Nana, Pops, Aunt Lee, Uncle Larry, Uncle Jason, Aunt Mariah, Andrew, Brian, and all four dogs. They also got a nice tan!
Cost: $0
So there you have it! We’re back to a normal week this week, so I’ll try to post our event round-up on Friday!

Summer seems to be flying by so far. We’re coming up fairly soon on the halfway mark. This week was a fun week here.
Monday – Letter C Day. Isabelle absolutely loved this day. We made our own crayons (from melting down old ones), made a Father’s Day card, and made our very own Super Hero capes (which will make a repeat appearance this upcoming week). Isabelle insisted on making Kyle and Super Hero cape for Father’s Day. She was so excited to give it to him today! Cost: $0 (we made the capes from old t-shirts)
Tuesday – Library Day. Isabelle and Josh both had fun at the library. They got to sign up for the summer reading program and put their names on stars that will be displayed in the library. We also came home with some fun new books. Cost: $0
Wednesday – Bear Day. Isabelle loved Bear Day too. We played with teddy bears, pretended to be bears, and got to watch Paddington Bear while we ate lunch. Our lunch was based on the book “Bear Wants More” (super cute–you should read it if you haven’t already). We had celery (grass), Strawberries, Fish sticks, Broccoli (clover), and Honey Cake. Isabelle’s favorite part was getting to have Honey Cake for dessert after lunch because we never get dessert in the middle of the day. She loved it! Cost: $0
Thursday – Bowling Day. Always a hit, always cheap. Cost: $3 (for shoe rental)
Friday – Art Day – We spent the day doing different art projects, but Isabelle’s favorite was painting with water colors. Josh wasn’t too interested in Art Day. Cost: $0
Total Cost for the Week: $3
Not too bad for a fun-filled week, right?

This week was an odd week because we were on the road a lot. A LOT.
Monday – We were heading home from Albany on Monday so we kept it simple and had Pajamas and Movies Day. We left the kids in their pajamas all day and let them watch movies the whole ride home (like we wouldn’t have done that anyway, but they thought it was special). We also let them watch a movie while we ate dinner (which is very unusual) so that was a real treat for them. Cost: $0
Tuesday – The kids and I were on the road again on Tuesday heading to Myrtle Beach, so finding a theme for today was a little tough. We had Curious George Day. I let the kids wear their Curious George shirts and we watched our Curious George movies in the car. Cost: $0
Wednesday – We were in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, but unfortunately it was raining, so no beach for us. Instead, we had Museum Day. Myrtle Beach has a cute little Children’s Museum, so we spent a few hours there. It wasn’t as great as the Children’s Museum in Atlanta, but the kids still really enjoyed it and it wore them out, so they took really great naps. Cost: $24 ($8 per person admission to the museum)
Thursday – It was finally sunny on Thursday so it was Beach Day! Hooray! Isabelle had a blast! She didn’t even care that the water was freezing. Josh wasn’t such a big fan of the water, but he enjoyed playing in the sand. Cost: $0
Friday – We headed home from Myrtle Beach on Friday, so it was another day spent entirely in the car. It’s rough to plan themes for the week when you have three whole days in the car. Friday was kind of a cop-out on my part, but I was running low in the idea department, so we had Animal Day. Isabelle chose to be a cat named Fairy Tale for the day. She got to meow instead of answering yes or no to questions and I called her Fairy Tale all day. For snack we had animal crackers. Cost: $0
I don’t think we did too pathetic of a job this week, but next week will be much better, I promise!

Another week, more fun days here in Elliott-land!
Monday – Memorial Day – Isabelle and Josh spent the night with Papa and Mama T on Sunday night and spent the day with them on Monday. I’m not sure exactly what they did, but I know they spent some time outside. They both had fun and were worn out by the time Kyle and I picked them up on Monday evening. Cost: $0 (for me)
Tuesday – Tuesday was Race Car Day, a.k.a. Mommy needs to get some errands done around town. We used our race car (my rockin’ Ford Taurus X) to race around town to accomplish all our errands, which included a trip to Target for a free cookie. For lunch we had race car sandwiches. After nap Isabelle painted and colored a race car for the art wall. Cost: $0
Wednesday – On Wednesday we visited Grandy (my dad) at his office. Isabelle had a blast and Josh seemed to have fun too. We got to ride an elevator (apparently very thrilling for Isabelle) and meet some of Grandy’s friends. Grandy works for Kroger in their corporate office and on the top floor of their office they have a mini (and I do mean mini) grocery store set up with a few grocery items, buggies, and registers. Isabelle got to be a cashier and she loved it! There were only about 15 items on her register, but she scanned those things over and over and over. We “spent” $92 on mostly canned goods. Then she got to bag them all and put them in one of the buggies. Josh spent the time pushing rolling chairs around the store. Then Grandy took us out to lunch at Chick-Fil-A so the kids got to play on the playground for a while. I left Grandy’s office with two exhausted kids. Cost: $0 (Thanks for lunch Grandy!)
Thursday – Today is Water Day. We started off the morning by painting with watercolors. I have some beautiful art work for the art wall. Then we changed into our bathing suits and headed outside to play with our water ring and some water toys. Isabelle finished off her morning by “painting” our porch with water and a pine bough that she found in the yard. Cost: $0
Friday – Friday is Backwards Day. We are going to wear our shirts backwards and have sandwiches for breakfast and pancakes for lunch. We are heading to Nana and Papa’s house tonight, so we may pack our suitcases backwards too (Isabelle will use Josh’s suitcase and vice versa). I’m still looking for a few other activities for tomorrow, but Pinterest is my best friend who always seems to have answers for me. Cost: $0
Here’s to a totally free week of fun entertainment!

Today was Dr. Seuss Day in the Elliott abode. We kicked off the morning by watching “The Cat in the Hat” (the old animated version). After breakfast we made Thing 1 and Thing 2 hair hats to wear around today. We also worked on rhyming words, which is one of Isabelle’s favorite things to do. Granted, she makes up nonsense words to rhyme with words like “hat,” but at least she thinks it is fun and she gets the concept of rhyming. Lunch was our main event of the day. The kids got to watch “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That” while they ate lunch. For lunch we had green eggs and ham (of course); 1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (Goldfish); and truffula trees (salad) on celery trunks. I thought it turned out pretty cute. After nap time we had Hop on Popcorn while we read “Hop on Pop.” Isabelle really seemed to enjoy Dr. Seuss day and Josh was totally oblivious to the fact that there was anything different about today than any other day. And I am happy because today came out to a total cost of $0!
